Pray as You Go is initially developed in 2006 by Fr. Peter Scally, a British Jesuit. It started as a daily podcast to allow commuters a quick burst of prayer, using Ignatian Prayer techniques.
Originally designed as a trial for Lent, the podcast took off and eventually swept around the world. They, they launched the app in 2014 and continue to be thrilled at the number of people praying each day from so many countries. Ignatian is a Catholic way of prayer, featuring a contemplative spirit, using ancient prayer practices of Lectio Divina, Gospel Contemplation, Daily Examen. The reading begins mostly with contemplative music (loving and long gazing upon God), remember a saint each day for their great model and sacrificial life in following Jesus. Few time in a year, you can find a few scripture reading that would not be found in the Protestant’s Chirstian Bible, such as NIV. There are few books in the Catholic bible which are not canalized in the Protestant bible. Nonetheless, it does not hurt, just treat them as spiritual reading. They were circulated in the early church, but were not canonized in the Protestant bible because they do not fit certain criteria.
Special Features (程式特色):
- It features a heart formation approach, meditative and contemplative.
- Ignatius encourages the use of imagination and our senses, allowing for a creatively and deep encounter with Jesus through the scriptures.
- The prayerful spiritual exercise encourages us to notice God in all things, by noticing our feeling and internal movement to discern God’s work in our life.
